The System That Needed a Keeper
SYM Stories · Season 4 — Smart Living · Episode 4. Intelligence without stewardship is incomplete.

The environmental-control system had performed beautifully when the building opened.
Months later, things were different.
Settings drifted. Alerts went unanswered. Energy use crept upward. Users complained that some spaces were too warm while others were overcooled.
The technology had not suddenly become unintelligent.
Nobody was really looking after it.
Sym did not begin by asking what should be replaced.
She brought the facility manager, users and technical team together.
Who monitors the system? Who responds when something changes? Who understands the settings? Who maintains the equipment—and who decides when adjustment is needed?
The answers mattered as much as the technology itself.
A smart system does not remain smart simply because it was commissioned well.
It needs people, knowledge, responsibility and care to keep performing.
That is Smart Living too:
capability sustained by stewardship.
